The Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct (LEIP or Precinct) is positioned as a major industrial precinct for environmentally responsible advanced manufacturing, technology and processing activities. The Precinct is located approximately 40 kilometres south of the Townsville central business district in the suburb of Calcium and comprises approximately 2,200 hectares extending east from the Mingela State Forest and Lansdown Creek towards the Flinders Highway. Townsville City Council (Council) acquired the land in 2001 after its previous use by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation as a pasture research site.
