North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation is seeking Expressions of Interest for the design and construction of the Bowen Marine Infrastructure Replacement Project. The existing Bowen Wharf, built in 1867, has reached the end of its service life and requires replacement. This project is located within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
The Bowen Wharf is situated off Santa Barbara Parade in Bowen, North Queensland, within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (“Bowen Wharf”). Historically, the Bowen Wharf has played an essential role in supporting local industry, tourism, and community activities. From an engineering perspective, the Bowen Wharf has reached the end of its service life. Originally constructed in 1867, it is no longer economically sustainable to maintain for continued use.
